Will EMDR therapy be covered under my medical insurance?

Yes, most insurance plans will pay for EMDR therapy, but it is wise to verify with your insurance provider.

What if I don’t have medical insurance?

Greg Walsh offers a sliding scale (cash per session rate) based on the individual client’s personal financial situation.

How long are the sessions?

Sessions are typically 43 - 52 minutes in length. Extended 53+ minute sessions are available on request, contingent on your insurance coverage.

Is the length of EMDR sessions different than regular talk therapy?

EMDR sessions can be adjusted to the needs of the individual client, from five minutes up to the full session time. Sometimes, clients prefer to work the entire clinical hour to maximize their outcomes. Clinician and client decide together how to utilize the session time. For cases of severe trauma, however, the clinician determines what is clinically appropriate for the best treatment outcomes for the client. Get more information on EMDR.

Can I use my insurance for a long session in order to do more processing that a regular contracted insurance length session allows?

Yes, we can bill the 1st hour to your insurance and the subsequent time for a cash rate.  Documented research shows that clients receive better outcomes for complex trauma with extended length sessions.
